Meet 4.16 pound Granny. She was ANOTHER stray who was brought to our facility May 1st.
We're guessing she is 12+ years old. Granny is doing GREAT and will do even better when we get some weight on her and have a dental done.
Granny seems to be housebroken and is getting along with all the other little dogs. She LOVES to be carried around!
Because of health issues associated with being elderly, it's believed she was just dumped to fend for herself. Poor little girl needs a good home. Do you have it in your heart to adopt a special needs girl? If so, please fill out an application, thank you!
Another STRAY…..This is tiny little Panda Ann. She is a Chihuahua.
We received a desperate e-mail April 1st wanting to know if we would take in a small dog that appeared to have been attacked by a large dog. She was supposedly a stray found in a ditch.
Even though it was Sunday and we were hoping for a quiet day, we agreed to save her. Panda Ann was delivered to Pet Pals at 9 P.M. (thank you Raquel and thank you Cheyenne Animal Shelter!)
Panda Ann was taken to our veterinarian Monday morning for x-rays. Poor little 4 1/2 pound Panda Ann has a broken back as you can see. The computer curser shows exactly where it is broken. It is recommended that we keep her confined to a small crate to let her heal on her own with only pain medicines prescribed.
She is improving and now trying to play! She is full of kisses and wants to thank everyone for helping with her expenses!

Another STRAY…..This is tiny cute Cupid! He is a five pound little Chihuahua. It was first thought that he was surviving on the streets for a year and was feral, but it was soon discovered this was not the case. Cupid was first caught by a gal who took him home and turned him loose. When she cornered Cupid and went to pick him up, he snapped at her. Being so tiny his only defense is his teeth. The gal did manage to pick him up and take him to a kill facility. Pet Pals was notified that he needed to go into rescue. Once again because of your generosity, a life was saved.
Cupid is just a little doll and readily wants picked up once he gets to know you. Surprisingly, Cupid seems housebroken so he must have had a home at one time. Since Cupid is SO small, no children as they might drop him. Do you have a lap for Cupid to sit on? If so, please fill out an application, thank you!
Because of YOUR Holiday donations and support, poor deaf Peaches was rescued and within three days, she had a NEW home…..HURRAH! Thank you Mischelle! Peaches is one of many that do not get posted on here as being available for adoption because they are adopted so fast. This also recently happened to baby Freedom and to Magpie. If you are looking for a new family member, write to us, NOW!

Do you like your toast with jelly? Well, here I am! My name is Jelly. I'm a tiny five year old Rat Terrier. My life hasn't been so good until I came to Pet Pals. I was turned into a kill facility with my brother Beans. The veterinarian's office said I was only brought to them once when I ate some medical marijuana and was very sick. I recovered with no side effects and a couple years later I was signed off to be euthanized, whatever that means. I don't think I want to know!
Next I thought I had a home but the man of the house didn't like me. Can you believe it? I was PURFECT and always went outside potty. The only fault I had is I wanted to be held non-stop. After what I went through, can you blame me? I get along with other dogs and even strangers, but because of my tiny size I hope to have a home without small children who might drop me. Do you have a nice lap for me to sit on? If so, please consider adopting me and I will sit up for you all the time!

My name is Beans! I'm a five and a half year old Rat Terrier. I've been in several homes due to no fault of my own. Two divorces and one man who just didn't like me and I don't know why. His wife called him a name that I better not say on here!
Someday I hope to have my very own home with someone who can hold me a lot and love me the way I am. I'm not a bad boy and potty outside like I'm supposed to.
I am ALL boy and want to protect my home being the tuff guy I am so I bark at strange things. All I really want is to come inside and be held!
Playing with another furkid my size would be great. Because I'm so small I would rather not be dropped by small children or carried off by a hawk. I will need someone who will take me outside in a secure fenced in yard and NOT leave me. I get scared, bark and want to explore. I just know something big and scary wants to grab me because I'm SO cute.
I really like it at Pet Pals so I smile a LOT! They love me also but know I would LOVE my very own person to hold me. Can you hold me?

It's GOT to be an April Fool's Day joke, right? We just took in three strays two days prior. Nope, no joke. In came Tricksey, Funny & their Grandfather, Joker who is listed on our large dog page.

More STRAYS…..Yahoo, Bing and Google were going to be SHOT by a town cop.....YIKES!
They were dumped which is common at about 8 to 12 months especially when one becomes pregnant which was the case with Yahoo. All are now spayed/neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated.
These are Australian Shepherd mixes also known as Aussies. These pups are amazingly SMART. They were very shy at first but have now warmed up and learned nobody is going to hurt them.
Australian Shepherds can be very protective of their families but if socialized properly they become very loving to anyone they meet. They need a pack leader!
Bing is VERY handsome. He was in a home for a short time and being a PUPPY, he needs obedience classes outside on walks. Bing was great with their kitty and small children. Being most families are too busy with small children to take a dog to obedience classes, we are recommending Bing be in a home without small children.

Oh MY…. Another InkSpot! This little girl could very well be a littermate to InkSpot. Her name is Inky! What a little doll she is at only 1 1/2 years old and weighing 30 pounds.
One of our board of directors received a call from Inky's owner saying that either she take Inky or Inky was going to be shot because she was chasing his sheep. Poor Inky was just bored. What are Border Collies bred for? HERDING!
Inky gets along with other dogs, people and is a very fast learner. She is already crate trained, knows come and is very happy to be alive. Inky is so smart she knows how to unlatch a gate! A bungee cord or clip solves the problem! She is also learning agility and we're surprised at how fast she catches on!
Inky will put a smile of your face daily with her happy go lucky attitude. The only thing Inky needs is a loving family who has a fence!

Editor's note: InkSpot is quite a boy even though he can't spell! He appears to be a puppy size wise. He's just the neatest and is always happy! InkSpot is learning agility and excels at jumping when commanded.
We still have a couple Pomeranians! One hundred and thirty-three (133) were relinquished to us.
This is little Daisy who is 6 years old and only 9.8 pounds Daisy is a riot. She's full of playfulness, but on the shy side until she warms up.
Daisy was the Mommy to some of the puppies that were brought in to us.
Daisy is sweet and needs a quiet loving home.
Sam in the picture was adopted.
This is chocolate colored Missy, who until she was three years old, was not handled. She is pictured with her friend Simon in the first picture and her brother in the second picture who was adopted.
When Missy first came in here, she would bite out of fear. Missy has to be the worst fear biter we've ever had in here. Missy has now improved a LOT and is letting a number of strangers pick her up and bathe her!
She's a big girl at 17.2 pounds who LOVES to swim! She gets along with other dogs. She has not been with cats.
Because of Missy's fear of people, her home should be quiet and patient to let her warm up to you. She is turning out to be a really sweet girl like we knew she could be. Her brother has done GREAT in his new home. His new family is so in love with him, he has been in several photo contests!
Missy is SO pretty she should be in contests also!
This is 5 year old Simon. He was once a fear biter. He's gotten over his fears and is doing GREAT.
Simon has now warmed up and wants to play. Simon has made a remarkable recovery after not being handled as a puppy. He will, however, require someone who has a loving touch and LOTS of patience.
We have had MANY applications for these babies. One applicant ran over their last dogs so they want a new one. Still no fence! Another applicant gave her pets away when she moved and wants a new one! Yet another applicant wanted a Christmas toy for the children.....Amazing! Two applications were approved and then we never heard from them again!
All we want is FOREVER homes for our babies with someone to treat them with LOVE!

Another STRAY….Cute Dundee was brought to Pet Pals, Inc. because he was found in a barn almost dead and the people have enough pets. While removing the above mats, it was discovered he had a bullet imbedded in his leg.
Dundee had the bullet removed along with a much needed dental. The bullet was lead which could have caused lead poisoning.
WHAT IDIOT would shoot a small cute little dog? I would LOVE to meet you. You are a SCUM BAG who needs neutered and I would ENJOY helping with your surgery.

Dizzy is a pom Chihuahua mix at not quite a year old.
We have read many horror stories about homes not being what rescuers had hoped for. We never thought out of the hundreds of carefully screened adoptions it would happen to us.
Dizzy was adopted but was returned with a bump/sore on her nose and blood vessels broken in her eye. We took Dizzy to our vet who confirmed it was from trauma either by being hit, thrown or dropped.
We have a e-mail from the adoptor saying she was "tapping" Dizzy on the nose when she had an accident on the carpet and Dizzy was snapping at her. You don't correct a dog from having accidents on your carpet by hitting them. A dog's only defense is to use their teeth. Funny thing is if you ask Dizzy if she has to go potty, she barks and runs to the door.
ALL the adoptor had to do was say "potty". Being a puppy, Dizzy needed to potty every couple hours.
After what Dizzy has been through, she and her father, Dusty, are staying here as our sanctuary pets.

The following article is typical of puppy mills. Even though the article is several years old, if you don't know what a puppy mill is, please read the article. The horrors continue through out the US and Canada EVERY day.
OKLAHOMA COUNTY PUPPY MILL CLOSED DOWN-DESCRIBED AS A, "HOUSE OF HORRORS"
On July 8, 2006, Safe Haven Humane Society of Midwest City, and Homeward Bound Humane Society of Durant, removed 130 dogs and puppies from an Oklahoma County residence. Owner Betty Foster, in her late 70s, produced puppies at the location for over 30 years.
Small breeds of dogs and their puppies were removed from filthy conditions; water was black, most of the food was moldy, and over 40 carcasses were found in bags on the property. A freshly dead puppy was being consumed by a rat.
'Puppy mills,' are a dirty secret throughout Oklahoma, and a secret that is growing. As this filthy industry is regulated in other states, they are expanding here.
Few people know where their pet store dog came from and fewer know where their stolen pet may wind up. Puppy mills are a mountain of shame. When dogs no longer, 'produce a crop,' they are discarded in the growing number of dog auctions, or worse.
While the dogs were being removed on Saturday, according to Foster's granddaughter's comments, she herself performed caesarian deliveries by, in her own words, "splitting them open."
Dogs with their midlines sutured together with fishing line were removed from the property. One gray Poodle that had been, 'split open,' was found in the trashcan with her intestines out. The birthing area had rolls of fishing line strewn on the floor.
Foster had earlier tried to get rescue leagues to take senior dogs that no longer produced puppies, but on Saturday the dogs she tried to release earlier were gone; rat poison was photographed in many bowls.
The horrors continued: Upon returning to Durant with the dogs, Homeward Bound Shelter Manager Stacy George started the task of cleaning and bathing the dogs. She removed scores of ticks from the area around the eyes of one small Lhasa Apso, however, instead of getting a happy glance, the young dogs' eyes were gone.
Some dogs have large tumors on their midlines. A terrier had a dead mouse entwined in its' fur.
Some will have to have surgery from being, "split open," in butcher style caesarian surgeries.
Many of the dogs removed from Foster's residence wear tags from recently being sold through auctions; some may be stolen pets. A lack of serious regulation of dog auctions permits stolen pets to go right into the, 'puppy mill,' industry.
It is time for Oklahomans to put our foot down on the misery.
" We demand changes in Oklahoma laws to include dog dealer regulations.
